Red Box

Last Friday (4.5.2012), it was a sunny afternoon. On the spur of the moment, we planned to go to Red Box which is located in Sunway Pyramid. It is a great place for musical entertainment. However, it was difficult for us to find the entrance as it locates quite secretly.
The entrance is unique and different from other establishment. Once we entered, we need to descend a flight of stairs to where the karaoke room is located. The interior design is modern and stylish with attractively wall painting patterns.
There was a long queue in front of the reception counter. We have to wait patiently to book for a karaoke room. After finishing our booking, one of the waiters leaded us to a new room.
The room is spacious and furnished with long and cosy sofa. Besides that, it has equipped with advanced electronic paraphernalia such as electronic microphones, large television screen with touch screen technology and high quality audio-visual system.
The toilet was clean and hygiene. Along the corridor also set with CCTV to ensure the customer’s safety.

There is wide selection of musical videos available in Red Box. It comprises songs of various genre and languages like English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Malay, Korean and so on. Myriad of music either it is new released or retro are also attainable. We picked our favourite songs and experienced the karaoke singing sensation. It truly impressed us a lot.

It also offered variety of food and beverages. There was a promotion merely for students. The price for a student including the food is 18++. We ordered three types of dishes for the five of us in the Hi-tea set lunch which costs RM12++ per dish.

We also ordered one jar of sprite, one jar of Longan Loh Hoh Guo and two glasses of Lemon Ribena. All the drinks ordered were very refreshing but only the Longan Loh Hoh Guo was a little too sweet for us.

This is the Pasta with Cream of Chicken Cheese Baked. The pasta was tasted creamy and delicious as it really blended into the cheeses and special sauce. The pasta was cooked just good as the texture of the pasta was soft.

This is the Chicken Murtabak Wedges. It was best to taste the wedges with chilli sauce. Its crispy crust pairing with the little spicy chicken murtabak was extremely scrumptious. There is the Chicken Nuggets with Sesame Honey. The golden yellow colour of the nuggets looked appetising and palatable. The nuggets were tasted tender inside while the outer layer was crusty. The mayonnaise sauce was served as the best condiment for the chicken nuggets.
The services of the waiters were efficient. They served our ordered food and drinks promptly and politely. We genuinely immersed in singing the songs as well as eating. The bill inclusive the service charge and government tax came to RM104.55.It was reasonable and affordable.

Pasta Zanmai Restaurant

Pasta Zanmai Restaurant Review

It was a balmy friday evening, my friends and I decided to have lunch at Sunway Pyramid near our college. After attending all the classes, everyone was tired and starved. Rachel suggested that we go to Pasta Zanmai restaurant. We all have never been there before including Rachel. I felt that this restaurant is quite unique because of the potpourri of Western and Japanese cuisine. It is hard to imagine pasta which is associated to Italian food can blend with the Japanese culture.

Fortunately, there was no long queue when we arrived at the restaurant. The dimly lit interior of the restaurant with stylish glittering lamps was a perfect pairing. It utilised mirrors wisely to create a sense of space while pictures with delicious looking dishes on the wall made our mouths water. It also has a transparent kitchen that allowed patrons to watch the chefs displaying their culinary skills. The restaurant was generally clean and cosy.

We ordered two pots of hot green tea which costs RM3 each. The menu has a variety of choices in food but we preferred the mini pasta set meal. This is because it is more economical and actually the size of the mini set meal was quite large. We ordered 2 set meals and one dessert of biscuits and ice cream.

The first dish served was the mini Tori Karaage Garlic Rice. It came with fried chicken with the garlic rice cooked to a nice colour and aroma that further stimulated our appetite. The mini fried chicken was crispy but tender and moist inside. The rice has a strong fragrance of garlic and tastes delicious. We just wanted more!

After that, the waiter served the Mini Chicken Onsen Tamago Pizza. Its presentation is exquisite and looks appetising. Its thin crusted surface was sprinkled with spring onions and topped with grilled chicken and seaweeds. It also contained a half-boiled egg yolk inside that burst and spilled over when we cut through it.The mini pizza was savoury but it was a challenge trying to divide it into little slices for the five of us.

The set meal also consist of the Mini Kaki Kimuchi Pasta. The pasta was cooked just right and tasted delicious as it was well mingled into the soup. There were some oysters inside the pasta that really made us craving for more!

The last dish was the Mini Ebi Ika No Spicy Pasta. The squids and prawns were fresh and the pasta was delectable. It was not too spicy living up to its name of "no spicy pasta".

Lastly, my favourite--dessert was finally served. The dessert we ordered was Itachoco Monoka which costs RM8 .It was biscuits with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate fillings in the middle. It looked tempting and attractive. Sweet chocolates with smooth vanilla flavoured ice-cream plus the moist biscuits tasted heavenly.
We really enjoyed our lunch here as the ambience is serene and comfortable. Other diners also reveled in this tranquil atmosphere. The service was a little slow as the waiters seem to be very busy.

The bill inclusive of 10 percent service charge and tax came to RM69.60. It was reasonable and value for money. Opening hours for this restaurant is from 10am to 10pm daily. Furthermore,it is a halal restaurant. It also accepts all major credit cards.
